The expected privacy feature from WhatsApp: No more messages from strangers!

Ana sayfa / Social Media

WhatsApp is bringing a new privacy-focused tool to its beta version for Android. The popular messaging app will allow the user to block messages from strangers. The new feature, which is currently being tested, will probably be available to all users very soon.

WhatsApp will automatically block messages from unknown contacts

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature is included in test version 2.24.20.16. As shown in the screenshot below, an option called “Block messages from unknown accounts” will appear in the “Advanced” section of the application settings.

WhatsApp’s new feature will work by monitoring various messages received from an unknown person in a short period of time. In this way, WhatsApp will know if the incoming message is spam and will automatically block them if necessary.

It’s worth noting that the new feature won’t apply to all messages received from people you don’t know, but only if the app detects inappropriate behavior in those messages.

If messages are received without this feature enabled, WhatsApp will also be able to suggest the user to enable the item. However, no date has yet been given for the tool to reach the final version of the app. The feature, which is currently only being tested in beta for Android, is expected to come to all devices soon.
